This video, for those who don’t know, is a rather light-hearted (and catchy!) reply to the now infamous Alexandra Wallace “Asians in the Library” YouTube video — the original has been removed long ago, but if you’re curious enough, there are mirrors (and tons of parodies) basically everywhere on YouTube.
It seems kind of ironic that her own manners are lacking when she implores Asians to adopt self-proclaimed right “American manners.” Ignorance seems to be popping up everywhere this week, but I hope you remember to recall the moral principles your parents have taught you and realize that tolerance is key.

I woke up to heavy rain this morning, which put me in a very mellow mood. This song (and basically every song by The Perishers) is great for times like these :)
I rarely ever get super angry, but I just have to get on my political high horse and rant for a minute. It’s come to my attention that certain ignorant individuals on Facebook and Twitter (Pearl Harbor was a Trending Topic!!) have been comparing the earthquake and tsunami that recently occurred in Japan to the U.S. Pearl Harbor attack — and then drawing the (stupidly ignorant) conclusion that the earthquake was God’s way of rectifying the U.S. loss at Pearl Harbor.
I’m sorry, what?
It’s at times like these when I’m actually ashamed to say that I’m American — because at times, this country looks like it hosts the largest population of idiots in the world. (Case and point: pre-pubescent teenagers were also recently Tweeting about Justin Bieber’s new hairdo…while remaining uncompletely aware that they should be payinng mind to other things — like the Libyan revolt.) Even if Pearl Harbor were a factor to be considered in whether or not we should be giving Japan aid — which it should wholeheartedly not be — do you not realize the probability that the people being affected by this disaster are somehow related to the people who planned the Pearl Harbor attack is almost close to 0? That instead we should have some kind of moral obligation to help our fellow man in a time of need?
American egotism has always worked up my nerve. I feel like the vast majority of Americans don’t care what happens to other countries as long as they’re okay. It’s not a problem to them until it becomes a personal problem — so before that happens, citizens ask the President, “Why are you helping them when you should be helping me/us?” (…Maybe because it’s the right thing to do? If some horrible natural disaster happens to us in the future, do you expect the rest of the world to ignore us?)
Please donate to one of the many charities to help with Japan relief…you’ll be a better person for it.
