Okay seriously, if you follow me on Twitter I’m pretty sure you’re all sick of the UT football spam I’m responsible for on your feed, but I have serious love for my Texas Longhorns. I’ve never been more proud of the fight they put up during the National Championship game despite being the underdog against Alabama and then the severely disadvantaged underdog once Colt McCoy exited the game with a right shoulder injury just 5 plays into the game (not even more than 5 minutes into the first quarter!). Then, we faced major adversity as we were forced to play our true freshman quarterback Garrett Gilbert. I don’t know about you, but if I was the backup quarterback who was forced to step up to the plate and play his first full game during theĀ National Championship, I’m pretty sure I would shit my pants.
It was pretty great to see our starter quarterback for next year mature on the field today, imo. I just feel incredibly sorry for Colt McCoy, the undisputed leader and inspiration to our football team, since he basically lead us up to this point and couldn’t play his last game for UT. His post-game interview almost made me teary (I’m a sap) when he couldn’t answer, “What was it like being on the sidelines and not being able to play?” It seriously took him 30 seconds to gather his composure to put together a really classy answer…and while I don’t believe in God, I really appreciate his humbleness in his answer. A real class act. All the best luck in the NFL.
