I can’t think of a proper entry title so maybe this will suffice

So none of my waitlists materialized into an acceptance — I’m a little sad, disappointed, and upset, but I’m sure I won’t have time to feel that way once school starts up. My goals for the next 4 years:

  • Bust my ass so I can land the residency I want, whatever and wherever that may be
  • Work on my interview skills, as I’m 95% sure that’s that’s what’s holding me back (sadface)
  • Make (lots of) new friends — this isn’t as stupid as it sounds, I swear. I’m really shy initially, and it’s hard for me to make small talk and converse comfortably with people when I initially meet them. This also means I’ve had the same core group of friends since elementary/middle school. This also just might have some implication in my interview skills…
  • Have a life outside of studying for medical school — the one I’ll be attending is apparently big on intramural sports, so I’ll give a shot at that! (Amongst other things, I hope)
  • Continue blogging — a must!

I hope I can check back at the end of medical school and find all of these things fulfilled. Fingers crossed!

Don’t take it too personally, there’s so much competition for everything these days. At least, that’s what I tell myself since I’m trying to find a job after graduating in May… Ack! I have a lot of similar goals, so know that you’re not alone. Good luck!

Ah man, I know exactly how you feel about interviews, I’m absurdly terrible at them…small talk and selling yourself is so hard :(

I always find it so nice when I meet people who’ve been with their core friends since elementary! Unlike me, I moved to so many schools so I guess my “core” friends are siblings and cousins. I hope you’ll meet a lot of people in medical school! I use to be so shy before, but now it’s like oh what the hell, we’re young and now I love socializing and meeting new people. :)

I hope you enjoy medical school–good luck with your classes and hope you make tons of new friends! Don’t worry, it doesn’t sound stupid haha. Meeting new people is such a challenge, at least to me it is. I love to socialize, but I can be such an awkward turtle. By the way, I like your new layout!

It happens don’t take it personally…I am sure you are a very smart med student yourself :)

Making lots of new friends is something I need to do as well. I am sure once you open up people will get to know and like you!

Try not to stress too much with studies, enjoy your college life as well. Studying in groups can sometimes be fun too XD. Hope to continue reading your blog as you have new adventures in your med school!

      p.s: I like the new layout…very clean :D
