I guess I’m a total scrooge at heart

Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate it!

…as for me, it’s just another normal day. I grew up jealous of all the families who celebrated the holidays (namely Christmas) because my family has never really traditionally celebrated one — with all the presents, tree, lights, etc. I could probably say maybe we’ve celebrated one in my 21 years of existence. (Sadface!)

On a similar note, I also became jealous of friends who had really large and close families and talked about them constantly during the holidays — the only family I have close to me is my immediate one because the rest are across the Pacific Ocean in another country. We only visit maybe once every 2 or 3 years, so I can’t stay that I’m close with any of my cousins, aunts, or uncles…and the gap between us is even more exacerbated by the fact that there’s a huge language barrier between me and them. I guess it’s one of the reasons why I’m so eager to start my own — I’d like to create a feeling of a large family that I can be a part of when I’m older.

Until then….bah humbug!

    Happy Thanksgiving :)

I’m like you haha. I never celebrate holidays really. Except it never really bugged me and I think I get more estranged from my family and I gravitate towards my friends. Because I always saw holidays as “NO SCHOOL FYEAHHH asdfsd PARTY ALL THE TIME.” lol

I feel the same way, Tamisa… But the reason I don’t celebrate with my family is because my parents don’t really care about holiday traditions, even if they are Catholics… And Filipino Catholics go all out on Christmas. I don’t see that happening this year…

I’m ALWAYS depressed during these holidays and it makes me sad to see that my family and I don’t celebrate.
