I love summertime

Funny story: my mom, sister, and I were shopping at the Houston Galleria a week or so ago, and I wanted to go inside Tiffany and Co. for fun. (I’ve been wanting a thumb ring for the longest time, but I just wanted to look at the pretties inside!) We were just browsing, taking note of all the mesmerizing sparkling going on around the store when a representative approached us.

He opened the velvet display box he had with him, looked at my sister, and asked, “Could you do me the pleasure of trying on some diamond rings?”

Natural reaction: is he kidding? Is this a dream?? Is this how they lure people into purchasing their rings — making them try them on and then realizing, “oh my god, I need this ring?” The rep, probably seeing our hesitant (and flabbergasted) expressions, then points at a shy groom-to-be across the counter — “It’s for him. He’d like to see what the rings look like on a finger.”

My reaction: why didn’t he ask me? (insert whiny voice here) To say I wasn’t jealous of my sister, who got to try on a 1 carat, 1.5 carat, and 1.75 carat (sparkling, glistening, amazingly amazing) diamond ring, would be outright lying. Because face it — it’s the dream of at least 75% of the female population to be proposed to and get married in their dream wedding. I “oohed” and “ahhed” as each ring was put on and then taken off with I’m sure was a big fat cheesy smile on my face. I offered my congratulations as we left the store — I can only imagine how happy that bride-to-be is/will be!

Also I have to congratulate Paola on her engagement yet again — because, you know, after doing so on Facebook, Twitter, and your blog, it would only make sense to do so again on mine. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. Another friend of mine from elementary school who I really hadn’t been in touch with since middle school also messaged me on Facebook a couple of weeks ago about her own engagement/upcoming wedding. Agh, so jealous. I guess it’s that time in my life where everyone starts getting married!

Other news: I’ve been bumming most of my summer vacation thus far watching Asian dramas (big surprise). I most recently finished Personal Taste and am currently waiting the subs of the last episode of Prosector Princess. I’m planning a proper review of both later, but all I have to say is that Prosecutor Princess is soo good. Somehow, I always end up falling for the male leads in dramas. I mean, Park Shi Hoon and Gong Yoo are not what I would usually call attractive:

But somehow, at the (near) end of Prosecutor Princess and Coffee Prince, respectively, I’ve fallen for both. I guess that’s what dramas tend to do to you :p

Also, re: medical school apps — my personal statement draft is done! I’ve messaged a couple of people on the SDN Personal Statement Reader List for this cycle, but only one has responded to me so far and has edited/critiqued it. I’m having trouble finding people who will do that for me, but I guess that’s life.

I’m also done filling out every section on AMCAS/TMDSAS sans the personal statement, and I’m waiting on my rec letters. This is so daunting — I’m actually going through with the application process. I’ll probably be submitting my primary application sometime really soon, and I’ll be working on my secondary application soon thereafter. Gah.

That is so cool your sister got to try on those rings! Congratulations to your friends!! I love hearing about engagements and weddings haha.

PARK SHI HOO! ♥ He’s one of my favorites haha. And yeah, I agree with you on Gong Yoo… for some reason by the end of CP, you couldn’t help but like him.
And as for Prosecutor Princess, I just wished for more. ): I wish they had permission for an extension!

Yay for getting that draft done! Hope you find more people to get to read your draft. :) Good luck!!

    @Teri
I like to think it says good things about our characters — that we’re not superficial enough to /totally/ judge a man by his looks XD Haha.

I never really like extensions — in the beginning, writers usually have the issues they want to address in the original alloted episodes. Usually an episode extension means seriously dragging out one of those issues (probably angst between the two leads). I’d much rather have a confirmed season 2!

Funny, I was at the Galeria a week ago, too!

You are almost done with your applications, Tamisa! Just hold on there. But once you get your acceptance to med school, you are back to square 1!

Ahh, that’s so cool that your sister got to try on all those rings! The bride-to-be is very lucky indeed, I would love to be proposed with a diamond ring from Tiffany & Co xD
Application processes always seem to tedious -_- I hope you find more people to edit your draft for you, and good luck with everything!

Your sister was so lucky to do that. I bet the rings were amazing to look at it. I cannot wait till the day when I finally received an engagement ring. Anyways, the bride-to-be is very lucky since rings from Tiffany & Co are just plain out love.

Good luck with all the applications. I hope it pulls through for you.
