Late night musings

Proper update later, I promise. I’m still living in this world — one more final to go (tomorrow morning at 9, ugh), and then I’ll finally be done with this crap-fest of a semester!

I thought I should update about what happened to me last night. It’s your typical “Tamisa” story — I poured myself a glass of  Honey & Mint Sweet Leaf Tea because I was thirsty. It’s the normal thing to do, yeah? Of course it is. A couple of minutes later, I’m halfway done with the drink. I notice something fuzzy floating on the bottom of the glass.

It’s mold. Awesome.

Of course, I freak out. I convince myself that I hadn’t actually swallowed a whole lump of mold, because I would have hopefully felt something icky and gross in my mouth, and I then proceeded to Google “what happens when you drink mold.” The answer: vomiting and diarrhea. Perhaps a fever.

Luckily for me, it’s been a little more than 24 hours, and I haven’t experienced anything horrible other than a really annoying mosquito that might have got the best of me while studying for my last final. I am now completely neurotic and OCD about double checking my glass/drink for anything that shouldn’t be there.

Lesson learned!

Ugh, that’s awful! Once I was drinking Snapple (in the glass bottle) and found this all this nasty congealed crap on the bottom! Turned out that it was normal and I just didn’t shake like I was supposed to, but I haven’t had a Snapple since that day haha.

EWW, I think I might have thrown up if I saw fuzzy mold at the bottom of the glass :( Good thing you didn’t get sick from that, especially since you had an exam the next morning.

Haha I’m glad your experience was much better than mine. It hasn’t stopped me from drinking Sweet Leaf Tea — I just now double and triple check the drink before I actually drink it…which may or may not be a really bad thing. Lol.

Funny thing is that I actually did try to force myself to vomit, but I’ve never really been good at that. I’m just thankful nothing really bad happened!

Haha, that’s so gross! But are you sure it was mold? I somehow convinced myself that tea doesn’t get moldy. It may have just been sitting too long and got clumped at the bottom. Then again, maybe I just made that up. I’ve been there though, and somehow no matter how many times I accidentally eat moldy food I’ve never had a reaction to it.

@Majorie
I’m 98% sure it was mold, haha. I swirled my cup around to make sure it wasn’t just a clump of junk, but it still stayed as a ball of mold :( I’m sure anything can mold given the right amount of time — all you need are some foreign particles to contaminate something and the right level of humidity. Ick!
